    Valve adjustment cam lobe position

So I'm in the process of finally adjusting my valves but I'm not sure where the cam lobe should be in relation to the valve being depressed to make the changes to each. That is to say should the highest point on the cam lobe (where its at the apex of the rounded triangular part) be where I should stop and then make the adjustment to each valve?

I drew a sketch to show you guys what I mean:

So when that rounded part (cam lobe) hit and pushed the rocker arm and forces the valve eccentric is when I should make the adjustment to each respect valve right? This is also when the valve is open right?

...Sorry if that picture sucks I'm learning all this as I go. Gotta get my feet wet but don't wanna fuck up! Thanks guys

No . you are exactly wrong. Adjust with the cam opposite of what you drew, cam lobe pointed away from rocker.

Correct reply. Your picture is backwards. By adjusting the valves, you are primarily picking up or 'filling in' the slack or space so that there is only the specified gap. You wouldnt be able to do that if the cam was holding the valve open.
