    M3 Oil Filter Remote Adapter?

The M3 oil filter for me is probably the biggest pain in the whole car to deal with on a routine basis. Does anyone have or know of a place where you can find a remote filter for an E30 M3 that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

    Cheap S14 parts, that's a good one.

Most places that work on something like that would also involve setting up a dry sump system. Other than removing the airbox assembly, what's so hard with dealing with the filter on the S14?

I'd think A kit from a 2002 would work as If I remeber correctly the S14 uses the same oil filter housing as the M10. I hate it too with my 318i's how you have to pull the air filter off to get the filter off. The nice thing is you don't have to worry about spilling oil as you remove it.

Just imaginehaving it rigth above the ABS. You open the hood and unscrew the filter ands put the new one on. NO hassles.

Funny you should ask! I just got one for my M3, cheap? What is cheap?

            It cost me almost $150.

            It's a Amsoil BK-14

All AN fittings, billet alloy housing, 1200psi hose, and you can still use the stock filter, or get a BIGGER filter, less pressure drop and better filtering.

Then they also sell kits that have 2 filters, one is a pre filter then the full flow one, this is suppose to remove everything from the oil! They claim that you almost never have to change it! just the filters, it works by getting the oil tested.

The Amsoil unit is $150 with extra fittings, and it's a filter relocation kit, not a bypass.

With that unit you still have the STOCK filter and must use it, all that kit is a extra filter. Amsoil has that kit to, but it also replaces the stock oil filter.

ah that's true, forgot about the filter relocation thing.
but IMO, frantz makes a cooler bypass filter setup than amsoil...mainly because amsoil charges 26-31 bucks for the by-pass oil filter element, while the frantz just needs a roll of TP (1 buck or 2 bucks if u get the expensive stuff )

I can assure you that Amsoil products are good, as I am a dealer. I can get the BMK-14 for $ 136.50 (dealer cost). Mike, do you run Amsoil in your car? I can get it for you for half the price of what most people charge. I used to buy it for $10/quart and now its less than $5.

The Frantz setup is a SECONDARY filter, you still need the OEM filter, that great for cleaning the oil, but the filter is still down there and now sticks out father due to the adapter. Amsoil makes one that lets you run both in any location, and comes with AN fittings!!

Yes, running a TP filter is cheap, but I bet the Amsoil by-pass works better!!

I just installed my BMK-14 relocation kit, works perfect!! and I can choose ANY filter I want!! It even has adapters for different sizes! I'm going to run the Porsche 928 filter, it holds a little over 1 qt.

Matt, I'm a dealer also, I have about $2500 in inventory right now....

do u know how much the amsoil dual-filter (one filter is a full-flow, the other is a bypass filter) relocation kit cost? (i think it's the BMK-13 kit)

Yes, but the stock filter is like that. I actually moved it at a slight angle, it was better for the hose routing.

It's not messy at all, what you do is put a ziplock bag under the filter when you unscrew it, no mess!
