Ok so this is just as the title says how do you adjust the timing on an m42 motor?

Spark timing? You can't. It's computer controlled.
Cam timing? Take the valve cover and upper front cover off, losen bolts on the cam sprocket, roatate cam to desired position, tighten bolts, install covers.Adam Fogg- '88 M3

yeah the cam timing not the spark timing. thanks for the help i wasnt really sure if you could do it on the m42 i thought it was controled by electronics. Should be easy to do then.Comment
