Found a fix for my WOT stutter

For all of you fighting a stutter at WOT, check your fusible link. Mine was all corroded so I threw a new one in and now it drives like a dream. Thought I'd help if I could. happy motoring

In the trunk, it's inline with the battery cable.

I'm not sure where it is on the front mounted batteries. However, it wasn't relocated. The very early (84-85) 318s and all of the convertibles have them in the front.

it's on the secondary wire on the positive terminal. it looks like a little flat piece in the middle of the wire, at least in the rear battery cars

My buddy removed that wire out of my car, and it ran "ok", still chirped 2nd and 3rd (NV m50) and today (which is a day after i got it from putting the suspension/wheels/interior pretty much everything together) i went to start it to go to work and it sputters like crazy and barely moves. idles like it's running on 3 cylinders.

Yes. That wire (and fusible link) supplies power only to the engine management system. The starter is powered from the large cable.

The best fix I have found for the fusible link is to cut out the link and splice the users, using a solder connection. Then where that wire connects at the power point in the engine bay use a lug type 60a fuse between the wire and the power point.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
