Removing driver door (how to get the mirror switch out)

Bentley really doesnt say how to get the mirror switch out of the door handle aside from just saying 'pry out' on page 14:21 and they are using the passenger door as the example

before I go trying to pry the switch out... Id like to see if there is more to it than that.

Just get a flat head and slowly pry it out from all sides.

Pry out the switch with a screwdriver or the like, then disconnect the harness attached to the back. Pretty easy stuff.

yea the whole plastic piece with the buttons on it comes out.

screwdriver may be too thick if u dont a small one; may leave back a little damage, try a knife or some sort.

There is a little lip, facing the passenger side. Use a flat head to pry it out.

Yes.

There is one connection, it unplugs easy.

I just did this yesterday because my power mirror switch was acting up. I would really have to press down hard for it to turn the mirrors.
So after the whole switch was out, I took out the yellowish plastic piece on the bottom (the part that connects to the electrical connection).
I then carefully removed all the tiny springs (6 i believe?), and one larger spring for the directional button. Then there are 3 plastic pieces that rest on top of the springs, they look like two air gun bb's connected to each other.
Cleaned up the springs and parts. Then took a little piece of steel wool and cleaned off the copper electrical connections on the yellowish plasic cover because mine was so dirty it couldn't make a connection.
It works fine now...and took about 10 minutes.

Like the others said, Get a small flathead screw driver and wiggle it under in between the door handle and the switch till you have good leverage and pry up and it should pop right out.

I have had to take it out millions of times, its not all that hard after you figure out a technique to getting it out. 8)

Hey I've been working to get this switch out for like 40 minutes and it will not move. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, I'm prying as hard as I can and I'm afraid that I'll break the plastic piece soon. Would the fact that it's a late model make any difference? It just doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

jam screw driver down between switch and door handle, pry up, it comes out.
