How I got fucked in the middle of the night

My car has recently been running like shit, this is no exageration. The car bogs all over the place depending on how much load is on the engine. I'm pretty sure it's bad gas because it only started after i got gas ( a full tank no less). I was wondering if there was anything I could put into the tank to help out my car?

update: I believe it has something to do with the electrical, The car was runnnig perfect until I started heading home. IT was bogging and losing power and wouldn't pick up. My car died while it was rolling so I did a roll start, it started but then died again. I pulled off the road and turned my flashers on then waited for the AAA guy to pick me up. I tried starting the car, it would start and sputter to it's death. I got home at around 430ish.

Redline Fuel System Cleaner SI-1 is 6.95 from turner motorsport. It can increase you gas quality by as much as 2 octance, plus clean out your system. One bottle for an entire tank.

Has you fuel filter ever been changed? That should clean out the fuel well enough and if it has never been changed go and get that too. Replace the fuel filter before running the SI-1.

Where do you live and what octane do you use? Which gas station? Do you "top off" of just go to a full tank?

I top off and I just replaced the fuel filter maybe less than a month ago. I live in southern california and always get 91 at chevron.

Topping off is bad... but that probably isn't your problem. You need extra room in your gas tank to allow the gasoline to expand. If you top off your tank, the extra gas may evaporate into your vehicle’s vapor collection system. That system may become fouled and will not work properly causing your vehicle to run poorly and have high gas emissions. Once the nozzle clicks off the first time, the gas you're paying for is NOT going into your tank. It's stuck in the hose, or getting ready to spill on the next person. In any case, you just increased your price per gallon by paying for something you're not getting!

Just stop topping up, and when you get to half a tank, drop in a full bottle of SI-1. Run to empty and then change your oil and fill up without topping off.

Check out your fuel lines as well... see if any of them are dimpled or crushed. If this doesn't work check your fuel pump. Maybe its become faulty.

        Keep us posted.

Also... "bad gas" would leave me to believe your fuel system is probably dirty or not pumping enough gas in for the cycle. Unless you are experiencing knocking or detenation (because your bad gas is lower than stated octane... it happens) then I would also look at your AFM. If you know someone local with a similar engine to yours, you should be able to just swap it out.

          So:
          1 - check fuel lines
2 - use SI-1 at half tank, run till empty, CHANGE OIL!
3 - if that helps, run SI-1 on a full tank
          4 - check fuel pump
          5 - check AFM
          6 - check DME
7 - Pray to god for a solution cos I'm outta them.

          Peace
          Jared

When i say top off i mean I let the nozzle stop it self. But anyways It only started doing this after I put that gas in it. When i drive alone it is ok-ish, but if there is any load at all the car doesn't want to go

Its not that fast an acting solution... it takes a hundred miles or so to burn it out.

Yeah I know that and found out the hard way that it most likely isn't the gas =( I got stuck on the 605 south at 230 am in the city of industry and had to get my car towed back home.

I'm guessing that they refilled the fuel tanks at the station just before you filled up. If you ever see them doing that, don't fill up as the gasoline being dumped into the tanks will stir up all of the sediment at the bottom of the tanks (and while it's in solution, it will be pumped into your tank.)

I'd suggest siphoning the gas out, filling up with 'clean' gas, and changing your filter.
