Dual Mass flwheel - how to test it?

How does one test if the dual mass flywheel is still good after 100k miles to be re-used with a new clutch kit?

This is a stock 03 540i 6speed dual mass flywheel, and some have said that when you turn the outside disc it's supposed to spring back?

    Suggestions?

    Thanks

Not sure if it will be of help – but here are my experiences with the dual mass wheel from my m42/240..

Yes – with some force – outside disc will move ~10mm in both directions from a centered position (spring-loaded).

At 136K miles – its surface was glazed so I had it resurfaced at a local NAPA.

After it was resurfaced, I brought it to a shop with pressure plate attached for balancing.

Aside from the standard maintenance of surfacing and balancing – I’m not aware of any testing procedures one can do to a flywheel with home tools.

The only thing I really “did” to it at home was rinse out clutch dust with WD-40.
