Coolant exploaded near my pedals during emission test?

    Hi

I was doing an e-test and boom coolant blows the F up inside my car.

I did some research...the heater core may have taken a shit. But i also read the heater core valve may have failed too....

i am not sure which one it is, but my carpet is drenched in coolant.

My fan doesn't work at all *the dials 1 2 3 and 4* i replaced the resistor and i still have nothing working.

    any ideas?

    thanks

The most likely failure is of the core, though a failed seal at the valve is a possibility.

The blower fault could be a fuse, switch, or blower motor. A few minutes of work with a test light will tell where the problem is.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Ouch – sorry to hear..

Fwiw, it’s my understanding that it’d be a good idea to replace the core, the valve, and internal piping if just one of them failed..

Hopefully, you’ve got a late model which I’ve read is much easier to access/service.

Can’t be of much help with the fan.. if it went out at the same time as the leak – I’d suspect the valve to have something to do with it (?)..

well the dials slowly stopped working till 4 only worked, then i did hear birds chirp from the vents.

anyway, i suppose i should just replace it all. i have a 1990 m50 swapped.

all the fuses are fine...perhaps the blower motor itself is roasted?

i will rip out the core tmrw, and diagnose the problem. my car was passing emissions with 4 seconds left till it exploaded...lol

        thx for the help guys!

Yeah - the chirping is a good indicator that the blower motor was on its way out..

Ah, cool - glad to hear you've got a late model to work with. Early ones are [even more of] a nightmare from what I've gathered.

Dude - I do not envy you - hang in there. Cringing at the thought of all the parts added up together..

          lol/bummer about the timing. =-)

A late model, m50 swapped car is worth keeping healthy !
