Broken Gauges and faulty ignition after collision. Please help!!

    Hi all!,

Pretty new to Posting here but, i feel this is one of the better collective of minds on the internet.

    The cars a 1991 318is with an M44 swap(so its OBDII now)

Sooo i was driving through some construction and hit a dip. Totally felt it knock the crap out of the oil pan. so after stopping traffic and checking the pan the car starts fine But, i blew the A/C switch(no longers stays pressed down), car wont turn off easily(takes some jingling), and ALL my guages shut off;).

I could really use some help on how to diagnose what the hell is going on.

P.S. : Ordered a new A/C switch but holding off on any unnecessary buying......

Have you taken apart the steering column to see what is happening?

A/C switch failure has nothing to do with key switch, whacking the oil pan has nothing to do with either....take some shit apart and take a look.

Little by little i have been taking stuff apart. Its rather difficult being that I'm at work so i don't how many more "smoke breaks" i can pull off... my AUX fan is wired into the a/c switch in the dash. when the pan got smacked that went out immediately, along with the cluster, and i figure i blew because it no longer stays depressed or lights up. the issue with the ignition is that when i go to turn off the car the engine stays running even if the key is in the off position. WHAT GIVES.

Just got my baby back from active autowerke for the swap, and lord knows my wallet cant do that trip again.

Only thing I can think of is perhaps a ground wire came off the motor...but then it would not even run

hmm correct me if i'm wrong... but do you think if the AC/Circulation switch shorted and fried it could cause components on the same channel to spaz out( as if a fuse blew?? )

I,m waiting for the switch to come in to test this out... i really want to get this done instead of resorting to a mechanic. The car became so much more complicated with the m44 and obdII nonsense but, i think i can still work with it
