    J B Weld.....................

I understand that there are areas on the M20 engine that instead of having consistant small vacum leaks and small coolant leaks you can JB Weld the areas and never have to have leaks there again. Does anyone out there have any knowledge of these spots? How to? Photos would be a plus. I have driven E30 for years and I am just getting into the mechanical / technical side of ownership. Thanks in advance for sharing......Be blessed.........G.

P.S. If there is already a thread on here that covers this topic please point me in the right direction. Thanks peeps.........G.

The elbows that fit into the throttle body are prime candidates for JB Weld if they are loose. The procedure is to remove the elbows, clean the nipples and sockets of all oil with acetone or lacquer thinner, apply a thin smear of JB weld to both parts and assemble. Allow the JB Weld to cure for at least 12 hours before starting the engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      ^ this.

but i also don't really recommend using jb weld all that much if you can just purchase a new part, jb weld should only be intended as a last resort emergency type of thing, especially when the boot isn't THAT much from online dealers.

eturtyis I am not speaking of the boot. Just the loose elbows as JLevie is speaking of or some of the small fittings such as the small in/outlet that heats the throttle. Most of the fittings I'm speaking of are managed by thin paper gaskets that fail often.

Yep, I just had to do this yesterday. Silicone doesn't hold.
