    Electric convertible cover closing issue

Please, before anyone posts "convert it to manual." It all works flawlessly, except:

It appears that the two "bowden cables" that connect the convertible cover (the part that flips up and down to let the soft top retract into the car, and then covers it up) opening/closing mechanism to the two latches that keep the cover closed have stretched. I adjusted each of them as far out as they will go.

Now, if I press on the cover while I close the top, it will latch, but not enough to eliminate rattling.

New cables are $40-50 each, which is absorb for two bicycle shifter cables; however, the ends of the cables do not appear to be adjustable (rather the ends are crimped on). Does anyone know where I can get new ends, or something that will serve in-leiu of the stock ends. I would rather cut the cables, and crimp on new ends than drop $100.

The part is #5 and there is one to each side latch. I assume the part is different on the electric top than the manual, because of where it starts from.

This guys (newer car) has the same problem and took the ghetto rigged approach. I was hoping for something better than an electric connector.

Have you checked the micro switches in the trunk to make sure the assembly is rotating completely and not stopping short?

No, I have not; however, adjusting the bowden cables improved the process, i simply could not adjust them enough. Is there a way to check the microswitches without having the "check tool?"

USPS flat rate box = $5-10. I can paypal. It would be worth it to see if the cables stretched or not. Did your lid close all the way before you stopped using them (I'm assuming you've converted to manual)?
