Under the hood, Behind Left headlight on fender
Passenger side strut tower
Oil pan to Driver's side frame rail
Those are the major ones, then in the car, there is a main one under the steering column. For details you'll need to get an ETM.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker

Don't forget, he has an ETA so the main engine ground on the strut tower on an 'i' is actually under the intake manifold next to the diag connector on an ETA.Originally posted by rs4pro3Under the hood, Behind Left headlight on fender

On the older ETAs and cars with rubber alternator bushings there is also a ground strap from teh alternator to the engine block.

NO ECU is grounded threw the engine harness to the block by the Diagnostic connector like stated. ETM is the factory Electrical trouble shooting manual, search on ebay or go into to your dealership to get a copy. It has wiring diagrams for every system along with where grounds and connectors are located.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker

If you read properly that's not what I said. I said the ground is not on the strut tower on ETAs it's on the intake manifold.Originally posted by rs4pro3NO ECU is grounded threw the engine harness to the block by the Diagnostic connector like stated. The alternator ground is attached to the block.
Check the Bentley if you don't beleive me, they are all listed there.

Sorry I was actually reading your post differently. I thought you were saying that "No Ecu" was grounded like that rather than "No, the Ecu".Originally posted by rs4pro3I know, just stating it differently, it's grounded at the Diagnostic connector threw the intake manifold, to the block, then threw the block to the oil pan, then to the chassis frame rail.
Fucking internet, so easy to misread people.
