    water coming into the cabin

ok, so a buddy calls me and says he's got water coming in from behind the heater box. it's only water and NOT coolant. He removes the air intakes on the outside of the car and runs water near the blower fan. Water pours in. He's wondering if the vents next to the blower motor are supposed to stay open. I told him its the fresh air intake unless he puts the car on recirculate. Then I would think these two vents close?

he said there is no drain for run off in that area.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

    Help would be appreciated thx.

If your pouring water into the two grills below the windshield, they do have a drain. If the drain plugs, water will pool and overflow into the blower housing and vents. Search elephant drain herefor that one.
Aso thereis a gasket around the box that does leak after time.

open the hood from the passenger side you will see a small black hose pointing down on the firewall. Stick a wire up that and make sure it is unblocked. that is where the water comes out of.

Just turn it and pull it off. It just slips over the metal sticking off the firewall. I cut about 1/2" off mine as it had distorted over time and sorta pinched the ends together, restricting drainage.
