best place to get work done in MA

i want to bring the car in for a tune-up / valve adjustment but would rather not pay the dealer prices. I also want to have the car looked over for any potential problems

anyone have any recommendations for a good mechanic in MA somewhere near boston...

I want to do it all myself but i dont know that a valve adjustment is something i want to tackle as a first project on the car

I have them same question, I have brought my car to Turner Motorsports a few times and I have all the parts for a complete build up of the suspension, but I don't want to bring it this time to them, they charge $80.00/hr labor. So I basically have the same question, I want a good independent shop that works on bmw/european cars. Thanks, Adam.

try the NorthEast board on DTMpower.net

They know of some places I believe. Unfortuneatly I cant help, because I am central Mass and because I do all work myself. Good luck!

If you want to embark on valve adjustments, check out my thread here: http://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/vie...justing+valves

Besides changing tires, brake work, and simple things, that's the first major thing I've done to my engine. I also painted my valve cover while I did it.

It really wasn't bad once I figured out what to do.

The reputable shops are as follows, most of which I don't have much experience with. These are all BMW shops only:

Autobahn in Natick (has the latest diagnostic equipment for late model BMWs)
Landshark (around same area) pretty new shop, seem reasonable and friendly.
Bavarian Performance Group, recommended highly on dtmpower.net in Stoneham
TMS, probably the best tuner but the most $$$
Albright's Mighty Motors in Cambridge: Jim Albright is awesome, but he's been sick and I only trust him.

          Good luck.

My family and I take our BMWs to West Quincy Motors. My uncle has been taking his cars there for 30+ years. (617) 773-3900. Very good for Volvos and Saabs, too.
