BIG PROBLEM!!! car sitting at Taco Bell right now...

i just recently got a E30 which at one time had an overheating problem until the a new radiator and hoses were installed. everything has been fine until today. i had my girlfriend driving my car and when she was parked waiting to pick me up i noticed a puddle as i walked up toward the car. naturally i thought it was the air ocnditioning. then we drove to taco bell which is about 1/2 a mile from where we were. when i got out my friends noticed smoke coming from under my hood, we opened it and a little hose near the throttle body was shooting coolant i think it was out toward the passenger side of the vehicle. i started the vehicle once more and it instantly overheated for the short time it was on. is this a big problem or something i can get back on the road in a few over. the hose is not broken it just seems to be lose or something i dont know but it seems to be going to the throttle body. any help?

It may be the hose, or it may be the gasket that goes on the throttle body. That hose heats the Throttle body, to keep it from freezing in cold weather. The gasket that connects the assembly to the throttle is a known leak spot.

tightening likely wont help. Remove both those small hoses and use a butt fitting to make them NOT flow through the neck off the throttle body. That will get you home.

Add more coolant if needed (almost certainly will have to)

all i could do for now is put some waterin the radiator and drive it home and work on it later. it made it home which was about 2-miles away the temperature gauge did go past the halfway mark, which it never does. i guess i got some work ahead of me i just hope i just wish i knew exactly what was wrong and if itll happen again and what messed up. i know its not the hose since the hose seems to be in good condition and is brand new. when u push the clamp thats holding it on with a screwdriver the leaking stops so thats why i think it may just need to be tightened. ill keep informing you all onwhats going on and ill get those pics up asap.

Its might be that damn cork gasket on the throttle body. I had to replace it when i got my e30. Be careful, those screws will strip really, really easy. Ask me how I know.

How far above 1/2 way did it go?

that little gasket on that goes all the time.... the flange and gasket are cheap... little bit of a pain to get off but shouldnt take too long.. just replace em, top off the cooling system (or i flush it but you dont have to) and it should solve your problem... that damn gasket left me stranded on the side of the highway 150 miles from home...
