    Stock cam lift?

Whats the lift duration on a stock cam. The reason why I ask is because I'm looking to get the IE 272 reground cam.

    bump

don't know. curious as well. You'd need oversized eccentrics to run with that reground cam. They are like $120 I believe from BMP.

Jordan suggested RaceTEP. http://www.racetep.com . They have a NEW grind for $325. I'd go for 274 or 276 and 11.0mm of lift personally. http://www.racetep.com/2002pl0902.htm

Only someone who dealt with them called them assholes, and claimed their cam specs were off from what he ordered.....I dunno  . How was your business dealings, Jordan? And have you checked your cam for accuracy?

yeah, how much of a hp gain would you experience installing a 272 regrind?

        Don't get a cheapo regrind...

I *think* the stock lift on a 325i is 9.5mm

The cam I got from TopEnd is 274/274 w/ 11.5mm lift.

Jordan, I just installed this in the head I'm using for my stroker. Have you driven with this cam yet? If so, how's it perform? Also, what did it do to the powerband in the lower rpm's?

I meant to post this earlier. Speaking with an engine builder, I was told that the " 2.5 "i" cam's lift is 10.1mm with 256-degree duration". Hope this helps.

I believe Jordan's car is still under the cover.....with its wood block rear suspension.....which he has not driven yet.

We'll all know when the project is up and running, and then he can inform us on his opinions of the cam.

But before that, I should hopefully have my car repaired....with a 272 or 274 cam.

I was told 256. Where'd you get the specs on it?

Some Brits review their Schrick 272 and Piper 274 cams. They really like the pull they add to the cars from 4k to redline.

Interesting if you are looking at cams.

Why install such a mild cam? A 272 or 274 is only a little hotter than the stock cam. Go for a 284/272 or something similar, the dual-pattern should work well with a low-torque load engine.

                        For a stroker, especially a 3.0L, look into something like a 288 or 292.

I don't want a horrible idle, and people said the 272 had an "OK" idle. So more extreme would be even less OK. Ted, with a 284/272 says his idle has been affected and a lil on the rough side.

                          I don't know. It's a daily driver (or will be when it's fixed). I don't know.

You think I should really go dual pattern?

A car with a dual-pattern cam will idle decently, and it can be aided by drilling a small (very small, about 3/16") hole in the throttle plate.

Plus, you can tinker with the idle via the adjustment on the AFM.
