ignition control unit.... ANYONE??????
My e30 es wont start and i blve its the ignition control unit.... I have replaced the following: Coil pack, dist,wires, plugs, cps,all relays..... Everything is getting power o even the ecu was tested on another car and it ran fine..... Any takes ... Pls need the some useful feed back asap!!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure what else to do ... And i checked the flywheel it has the magnet that the cps reads off of .....:(

Does the engine have spark when cranking? If it has spark does the fuel pump run when cranking? And if the pump is running when cranking what it the rail pressure?
This car doesn't have a separate ignition module. That functionality is in the DME.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

not spark at all ... i havent checked fuel pressure cuz i have no spark at all ... trying to get it to spark first before i move on to the fuel .... but i got no spark even with power to the coil ... and the dme is fully functionable ... ?????? im in lala land goin crazy tryin to figure ths shit out ... next step is bmw dealer ... $$$$$$Comment

Since you have proved that the DME works on another car, and presumably you replaced the relays with new parts (right?) and did the same for the timing reference sensors the lack of spark and fuel suggests that the DME doesn't have power or ground or isn't getting a START signal. Check the fusible link and make sure that the main relay is the five prong variety.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

100% in agreement with Jim. If by chance you thought that those are "normal" (as in auto parts store) relays, no chance, they will not work.

relays were all replaced... all fuses ...im getting fuel ... cuz i jus replaced all the plugs and they were all lil wet from cranking it .. um dme is working... coil is new out of the box.. i was messing with it last night disconnected one small wire on the positive under the hood and BOOM.. got spark .......... not sure y the damm car changed it s mind.. lol.... thanx for all the help guys .!!!! really appreciate it ..
