    testing for fuel injector power

my fuel injectors in my 84 318 aren't coming on, im trying to find out if its the ecu or something else, the relay works, and its sending power to them, but they're clicking. i was told if use a light tester on the injector on the ground side of the injector plug, the light should blink when the car is trying to start. i did this, but both the power and the ground side have constant light(using the light tester)
    any ideas?

    thanks guys

The DME grounds the injectors to cause them to fire. If a noid light doesn't indicate that the injectors are firing (a meter or test light is an inconclusive test), the DME or timing reference sensors are suspect.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
