fuel tank sizes early and late model

i have an 85 325e and it seems everything thats on my car is almost completely against the norm for what comes on these cars.

i have no guibo my car doesnt even require it. my interior is the top interior that came on the early e30s but my tank seems to be the biggest riddle of all

im supposed to have a 55l tank yet even bone dry the most i can fill it is to 47.5l

do some come with that size tanks or am i one of the very very few cuz i wanna get more mileage outta my tank but with this small one i can never seem to get what i want out of it
so my only other question is that if i were to get a new tank would the 55l or the even bigger 63l fit?

The IPB for the car shows a quibo in the parts list as well as a harmonic balancer. The balancer does a pretty good job of hiding the gumbo. Perhaps the guibo is present and you just aren't seeing it.

The only tanks I know of that have been used on E30's are the very early 58L, the 55L, and 63L tanks. A damaged tank may hold less fuel or the tank hasn't been as empty as you think. Either could explain the 47.5L fill.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

on my car there is absolutely no way to put the guibo on ive taken the driveshaft off and it bolts straight up to the hub.

that could make sense then if thats the case about it filling up but i only seem to scrape on my cat im gonna have to inspect the tank then.

Can you get some pictures of the drive shaft?
