Hey guys, I'm troubleshooting some stuff on my cooling system and I was wondering if anyone knew how the wires hook up to the sensors on the side of the radiator. I was talking to Blunt and he said if they ever got reversed (distinct possibility) the fan wouldnt work right. Anyway, if someone could help me out I'd appreciate it.

The male pins are on the dual temp switch in a triangular configuration.
The male connector's plastic shell has a curved edge, a flat edge, and
an inwardly-notched edge.

The curved edge is on the side of pins 1 and 2, the flat edge on pins 2
and 3, and the notched edge with pins 1 and 3.
Pin 1 -- green/black wire
Pin 2 -- black wire

Aha! Yes there is a difference.
Those sensors in the radiator are temperature switches that control the auxiliary electric fan on the front of the rad.
Download the wiring diagrams for your car from this link: http://shark.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e30/
Then look up page: "6454-0 AUXILIARY FAN"
My 1990 325is has a single "dual-temperature" switch, connections for which are described in my previous post. Your 325es has two separate switches providing the same function.
The "Normal Speed Temp Switch" with white terminals closes above 196F (91C), whereas the "High Speed Temp Switch" with red terminals closes at 210F (99C). They're both just a two-terminal switch that opens and closes, so it shouldn't matter which wire goes on which terminal (left or right). But obviously it does matter which wires go to which switch.
Power goes to both switches from Fuse-19 via a Green/Black (GN/BK) wire. Then the Black/Red (BK/RD) wire should be connected to the remaining terminal of the High Speed switch (red terminals), and the Black (BK) wire to the Normal Speed switch (white terminals).
I used to have an 86 325e, but it didn't have A/C or an auxiliary fan, so it didn't have either of those temp switches in the rad. It just had those two holes plugged off.
It shouldn't matter which switch is mounted above or below the other in the rad, but the wiring diagram distinguishes between the two only in that the high speed switch has red terminals whereas the low speed switch has white terminals.
Hope that helps.
