In-tank fuel pump, eta’s are different?

Yesterday I decided to replace the failing in-tank fuel pump in my eta project car with a TRE model. When I took the pump out I was expecting something like this:

    But I got this instead:

I tried to fit it together anyway but the whole assembly is a little too long:

I’m going to try to cut the feed tube shorter tonight to make it shorter. Unfortunately I have to zip-tie the pump to the return line because the hose clamp is too big to fit into the opening. The whole thing feels janky and makes me uneasy because its generally just hanging without any support from below. Is there any other way to do this?

The pump from your tank is a low pressure transfer pump. The high pressure pump on your car is under the car just in front of the left rear wheel.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Ok, the the one in the first picture is main pump from the late models?

I have already replaced my high pressure pump with a new one. The new hp pump was buzzing, almost like morse code. I took that as meaning the push pump wasn't pushing enough to keep up with the hp pump.

So, I have a TRE-340, can I not use that to replace my low pressure push pump?

I found what I needed once I started using the right search terms. Looks like what I'm doing is generally fine.

        Thanks!
