power window problem

    power window problem

    ok its 90 and my windows decided to stop working... fun huh... i am getting no power to my regulator motors and i cant seem to find a fuse or relay for this problem... any ideas?
    '84 318i
    '87 325is
    '86 325is

    Check the circuit breaker, it's located either in the dash above the radio or in the center consule by the window switches. Check to make sure it's pressed in.

      do you have power going to the switch? I've heard its common for the wires in the doors to get old and brittle and break due to the opening/closing of the door.

          It's usually black but yes on some cars it's next to the hazard switch. It pops out when the breaker trips. Push it back in till it clicks.

            It's not behind the dash, it's a button on the dash [but most likely in your car it's in the center console]

              i found it... it didnt help so i put a fused link inbetween the wires and now my windows work again.... is a fused link a bad idea?

                Well, it tripped for a reason, I would say that as a temporary fix to just roll your windows down and leave them down is okay. But I wouldnt run around like that for long...

                    what exactly are you jumping here? If you are just jumping the breaker thing inside the car, then yea thats fine, but when you start jumping fuses/relays then you have a problem.

                      no i am just jumping the breaker with a 30amp fusable link until i can afford to buy a new breaker...
