    Cylinder sleeving question

This is a question regarding one of the spare engines we have here at NCSU for the Formula 1 team. A couple of the cylinder's wall's are gouged pretty bad, passed the point of honing. Is it possible to bore out the cylinder still its smooth then sleeve it so it will be usable again?

    Thanks

Yes, its pretty common to sleeve cylinders. What motor is this for? What material is the block?

I believe BMW uses ceramic coated cylinders. This might present a problem with resleeving.

On aluminum blocks they use Nikasil or Alusil.
