    Doors?

My 1984 coupe has fucked up doors, I will be swapping the full assemblies off an 87 2door in the next week or two. Got a couple questions.

1: Are they bolt on replacements? Am I able to swap my lock cylinders over?

2: Where can I find the part number for the metal pins in the door jamb connectors? I plan to replace the full connectors, male and female.

yes direct bolt on. locks can be swapped over.

First check to see if your door plug pins actually need replacing. you need a special tool to release the pins from the plug. check and see if the configuration is the same for the doors your removing with the doors you are replacing. You may only need to add a pin or two.

I've done this job a couple times and it is one big PITA job.

My googlefu has answered the second half of my question for me, it seems the early doors don't have a removable door jam connector, instead it is a hardline from body-door. I will be pulling the harness out of my old doors and fishing it into the 87's, taking the opportunity to add tweeter wires to the mix.

I appreciate the input on the locks, I may look into grabbing a whole new unit for the driver side if old fits on newer doors, I know they are internally different or I would just rebuild (late model keys are apparently longer)

Apparently the hinges are also different, interchangable by bolting the door to the early hinge but it requires re-alignment as you cant just remove at the pins.

I'd like to thank JEAN for posting in depth with all the jobs he does on his car as I've been using his threads for a great many details lately.
