    Alternator going out?

I warmed up my car this morning before work because I love having heat and hate the environment. However, there was a rubbing sound coming from the hood which went away by the time I got to work.

Is this an indication that the bearings in the alternator or alternator pulley or going out? I'm thinking I might go by the junkyard soon and pick one up and school myself on how to rebuild it if that's the case.

    Thanks,

    Ryan A

That noise could have been from the alternator, power steering pump, water pump, A/C compressor, any of the belts, or the timing belt or tensioner. Diagnose first, then fix.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

At least open the hood and check things out. Could be anything.
