    installed K&N...

I installed my K&N today and now there is white/grayish smoke coming from the exhaust and moisture in the tailpipe. When I first started the car after installing I forgot to plug the AFM in but I immediately turned it off and plugged it in, could this be the problem? If not then what is? Thanks.

Is the K&N all freshly oiled up? It could just be that oil they put on it burning up. How long did you have the motor running with the smoke coming out the back?

I had it idling for about 15-20 minutes. I also put a quart of oil in just in case but that didn't help. After driving it around town for the past 15 minutes it has gone away. Hopefully it will stay like that. Thanks.

        That's... Umm... Not exactly good

Use your dipstick to check the oil, don't just add it for fun

I checked it before hand and it was low, my car also burns a quart about every 1000 miles or so.

According to BMW, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

The filter was probably over-oiled and the excess got sucked in and burned off. Nothing to worry about.

No worries, mine did that when I re-oiled my K&N. Should be fine.

                          ^^^
when you oil it up it says you should let it sit and kinda dry/ let the excess run off so it does get sucked up.
