is there a write up on this because i can seem to get the plastic ring that snaps around the ball on the shifter into the metal console it wont fit did i get the wrong part?
theres two tabs on the outside of the ring. I cant remember if there are slots on the carrier (the metal piece that the plastic ring goes into) or if you just jam the thing in. Either way, you have to rotate the cup until the tabs sit in the wholes in the carrier and lock the shifter into place.
I take it you have the sheet metal console. I reused the two smaller plastic rings from the old shift lever ball. I had to grind down the shifter to get the top one to come off the old one, but it wasn't bad. I also reused the spring, metal ring, and circlip.
The large plastic cup won't fit into the sheet metal console. You might be able to trim it down and squeeze it in, but I personally wasn't comfortable with that.
i think im just gonna use a dremel to grind it down to the point where i have to jam in in there and then im gonna epoxy bond it in so it wond slip out
there should be instructions in UUC's site... i think u jsut have to twist it to lock it in place.. I used 2 flathead screwdrivers places at an X for leverage... but I have the alu carrier... not the sheet metal, so i dunno, yours may be differrent

The sheet metal carrier is different than the aluminum console.
