    Thanks everyone for the advice.

I talked to a few mechanics yesterday and one of them told me that Ford F-150 pickup's have the same problem. Ford makes a tool to remove the piece left in the block. I took some measurements on a F-150 plug and the treaded area (where this tool seems to work from the pictures of it I have seen) is the same for both plugs. One of our local auto parts stores has this tool, but it is $100! I will go talk to the Ford dealership tomorrow and find out how this tool is used.

In the meantime, I plugged the hole on the inside of the broken plug that goes to the cylinder with a long wooden dowel rod and then sprayed some PB blaster down there to soak. I don't think I will use any heat, because of the aluminum head.

If this tool from Ford does not look promising, I think I will take off the head. I don't want to go the EZ Out option. From how hard the other plugs came out, I worry it will break.

I will try to post pictures soon. Still trying to figure out how to do that on this forum. It asks me for a URL. Do I need to upload them somewhere first?

Not that it was particularly effective, but I've used the bernzomatic on the aluminum head before. Not nearly as hot as the o/a torch, but I used it to heat a stubborn stud.

I'm bringing my 325i into a Ford mechanic who has taken a lot of broken plugs out of F-150 pickups. He said he will use a #5 Easy-out to remove the broken piece. It has soaked in PB blaster for 3 days, so I hope it is has loosened up for him. It will cost me $100, but I'm thinking he has more experience and you only have one shot at something like this. I wish him luck! Otherwise I will be learning to take off the head. Is that hard to do?

if it's your first time it may be a bit overwhelming. I have done a few jobs and it gets easy each time.

You will need to remember quite a few things as to how things all go back together. I would advise you to take your time on it and try to get it done within a couple days so you don't forget things. get a manual to help you along the way.
