The parts car I'm picking up tomorrow has a slight problem. The steering is stuck with the wheels turned to the left. When you put the key in the ignition, it goes in just fine, but won't turn. Needless to say, we can't unlock the steering, which will make it very hard to get onto a trailer, unless we can get it unlocked. Jordan told me about cutting through the ignition cylinder with a sawzall, but I don't have access to one. I need to know what we have to do to unlock the steering column, so we can straighten the wheels out and load the thing up. Any help is greatly appreciated!
How to break loose stuck steering column?

Unbolt the clamp on the tie rods and thread them in/out to make the wheels straight for now. When you get the car back in better condition where you can drive it, get it aligned and youll be good to go. Other than that... I cant help ya. Good luck with it though Josh.

It's a parts car, it won't ever be driven. It's coming to my house and being dismantled.Originally posted by PeaveyBassistUnbolt the clamp on the tie rods and thread them in/out to make the wheels straight for now. Even easier than that, take out the coupling between the column and the rack.Originally posted by PeaveyBassistUnbolt the clamp on the tie rods and thread them in/out to make the wheels straight for now. take the steering wheel off the car, and pull the little lock pin out. that might work.
