    Trunk lock cylinder removal

I know there are a million and 1 threads on central locking, removing the lock cylinders, etc. but I cannot for the life of me find anything on the trunk lock. I removed the 2 screws and got the whole push button lock piece off the car, but how do I remove the cylinder itself from the piece it sits in? I am trying to take it apart and lube/rebuild the lock as it's basically frozen.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

you need "C" clip pliers to take the snap ring out first. Once you have that you can separate the button from the housing. then you have to get the chrome piece off which is a bit tricky without bending or damaging the shit out of it. Once the clip is out you can disassemble it.

Gotcha. After looking at/monkeying with it some more, that's what it looks like. Thanks!

Ended up having to get a set of pliers, harbor freight FTW. Anyhow, got the clip off, the little washer and spring out, and the button out. Now how is chrome 'button' piece supposed to com off the lock cylinder? Everything is so corroded I can't figure out how to pull it apart and don't want to break it.

          read this again. :)

you can see there is a small dibit in the chrome near the bottom. this holds the chrome piece to the body of the key lock. welcome to micro management.

It would seem an overnight soak in PB Blaster would take care of the rust before you attempt to disassemble the lock. After that, you can immerse the lock in WD-40 and use your key to move the lock mechanism back and forth.

Well got it apart, and figured I would do a little write-up on it for anyone in the position that I was when I started this thread.

Does anyone know how many of the tiny springs and tiny ball bearings are installed on the lock assembly (after removing it from the trunk)?
