Defrost button sticks (ONLY when pushed into the dash panel).

Went to go replace the rear window defrost button w/ another one. Pulled the old one out, and pressed in/out just fine. It was sticking only when in the dash panel.

Same thing happened w/ the other button i had.

    Any ideas?

Can you locate where it is catching? Seems to me that would be a logical starting point.

A lot of them do that. They're just dirty inside.

Get a new switch (not a used one) and there shouldn't be any problems.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Could try and clean it with some compressed air.

what gets me is, pressing the button on/off (off the car and not pressed into the console)....it works fine. Its almost like sitting in the panel, it gets squished...but i checked, and nothing is binding it. maybe i'll try to clean one of the switches good.

I have this exact same issue with my defrost switch! Works perfect when removed from the dash but sticks when installed in the dash. It happens when the metal tabs are squeezed. Still trying to resolve it...
