    Comparing 91 m42 and 92 m42

    Whats different between the e30 m42 and the e36 m42. Is it just the oil pan and wiring harness?

      Some of the coolant hose routing and the throttle body are probably different. I swapped M42s that were both from '91 E30 318i's and they were different.

          Basically yea. It's just detail differences. The main componanants of the motor are all exactly the same.
