FWB inner bearing race stuck on... umm

Not sure if this is general tech or suspension related, since its sort of in the middle, its not about suspension stuff and its a general question on wtf to do ;) Oh I dont know.

Anyways, the story goes one side came off fine, the other decided to give me problems. I cant seem to figure how to safely remove that part of the bearing without messing up the dust cover. Im thinking heat right now but is there any other way? My puller is too fat and wont fit between the cover and the bearing piece.

    Any suggestions?

Dont ask why I took the whole shield off, I forget.

Guess you previously used the same brand bearing that I used in my transmission swap.

      Mr. Dremel was my friend.

hey Justin, clean that damn speed sensor and the cog while you at it dood :P . lemme know how the rest of the bearing work goes man. I'll go for a random stop-by someday soon and hopefully get you those damn swaybar parts you ordered.

cut it at an angle with a die grinder, but be careful of the spindle and split the race with a chisel. it works great.

They make an inexpensive bearing puller for that. It has two identical wedges with bolts on the ends and a hole in the middle.I looked one up at Whitney. It's called a bearing seperator. part # WK 159720 catalog ID #029831337 program code ALTF05 If you want to look it up. You should be able to buy or borrow one at a local auto parts. Wedge it off.

I just did that last weekend. Use a grinder, or dremil and cut two flat edges on it. Then you will be able to get a pipe wrench on it. Once you are able to turn it, start turning and pulling. Use a prybar to help it along. Its not too bad. Just be careful not to harm the spindle.

heh, I obviously got it guys but I guess this may be useful for anybody who actually uses the search function. I posted and then almost immediately got it removed with a torch.

Chris -- It was at night pretty late and I wasnt really thinking about cleaning everyhting up, it really isnt much of a task to remove that though to clean it off if I had to. The swap went great after I got that pos off. Im waiting on those parts ;) I have plenty of stuff to finish on the car, put my door sils back on after I finalize my speaker mounting, I need to modify little washers for something, and plenty of other tiny little things that take TIME. I just got off work now so I'll probably do that tomorrow.

M-Tree' -- I used something close to that when I was breaking out my stock CAB bushings from the brackets; except in reverse. It works great.
