    valve timing in cold

I know it's good to time your valves in the cold. The thing is, its -3 Celsius outside and lightly snowing. Is that too cold to do it? my new valve cover gasket just came in the mail so I want to get er done.

There is a limit on how much metal can shrink in the cold. -3C is fine to do a valve adjustment, but do you really want to do in the cold? Can you find a buddy with a garage? If not, I would erect a tent around the engine and put a heater in there to keep you warm.

Well I can pull the nose into my garage, but I walled up the back half of the garage into a man cave so the full car won't fit, so I guess I could do that so I'll stay a little warmer.

Do it! I'm on the mainland and just spent the entire weekend doing a 327i swap....the more you work the warmer you stay.

valve TIMING? you're talking about adjusting the valve CLEARANCE.

If you want to be a dinkus about it adjusting the "clearance" of the valves effects the timing of when the valves are open and closed. So valve timing is valid.
