How many journals does the Super Eta cam have?

Quick and simple question. Does it have 7 journals like the "i" cam?

yes, same as the "i" cam.

The Super eta head IS the "i" head, but the cam and springs are different. Everything else is "i"........

rigmaster is the man, but in this case he is wrong. it depends on the the production date. if you want i can get pics. the early super etas had the same number of journals as the eta.
i can prove it with pics. dont know if i care enough to drive 50 mins to get them. but it depends. on the right hand side of the head there is a round casting "stump" thing. on the end of it it is blank on the ones with eta journals on the ones that say 2.5/2.7 it has the same number of journals as the i

Hmmmm, what do the pics show?? If it's got the same number of journals as an eta, then it's not a Super eta.....at least not in my book. The Super eta is basically only in the '88 325 and 528e- it's got a slightly higher redline than the eta, it's got the "hybrid" head, with the same casting and valves as the "i", but the super eta seven journal cam and (I think) single valve springs. It's 2.7l displacement with unique pistons to work with the head. I would agree that different production dates could have the eta cam (and head, etc), but I would not call it a Super eta.

Let us know what you've got, I'm curious now!!

No need to go out of your way. I've got a cam that is labelled as 325e/528e, but it has 7 journals. Just wondering if it was mis-labelled or not. I assume it's correct and is meant for a super eta.
