Help - Pwr Seats stuck all the way back, can't remove

I was in the process of removing the pass. power sport seat on my M6 (same as the E30 seats) to reupholster. I put the seat back all the way to remove front bolts. Now motor won't work and I need to have seat forward a bit to get the rear bolts out.

Anyone know how to manually move the power seat forward so I can get to those bolts? Also, any advice on why that motor may have quit would be helpful (but I assume that diagnosis is hard without being here).
