Possible for a Dinan chip to be outdated?

Hey guys, after having some fun with the boys at willow springs I decided to see whether or not my eta is chipped, I opened up my ECU and found this Dinan chip, but tbh it feels very sluggish all the way around and before I opened up the ECU my dad said it had a chip but I don't believe it cuz of how bad it was performing, well now that I know it's chipped I see the date is from 1992! Could it be its outdated and I need to get a newer Dinan or better off yet a recently programmed chip or I just need a tune up which hasn't been in ages! Let me know thanks

idk but i heard most people say its got the gain on top end and not in all ranges, compared to MarkD or Conforti chips but yes possible there something else might be wrong, ill need to get the plugs change and everything etc.

I agree with bmwstephen, something else is wrong. It could be invalid data from the engine sensors or something wrong in the engine.

The first actions should be to verify cam timing, install new ignition parts (plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor), adjust the valves, replace the O2 sensor if it has 100k on it, verify that the engine is running at normal temperature, verify the operation of the IAT & ECT sensors, and verify operation of the TPS (electrical check), check fuel rail pressure and have the injectors cleaned and flow tested.

If the engine still seems down on power run compression (dry and wet) and leak down tests.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

i would gladly take his ETA. very cleanly modded. but in all seriousness OP, the chip could've just been bought in that year. my dinan chip says 2012. It's probably a copywright thing. The part number for the chip is questionable though, you might want to go on Dinan's Website and verify it is compatible with the ETA

i wouldnt throw away a grey market euro speced eta, rather keep it since im technically the 3rd owner although my dad owned it last and some military guy brought it overseas, its got only 158k
