Changed the front engine Wiring harness and now electrical problems

    Hello all,

I had an under hood fire in my 87 325is. Replaced the main engine harness with one from a 1989 auto trans convertible. The harness looked the same.

Now the engine will not start. It turns over but no fuel pressure. I can jump the center of the three relays and I get fuel pressure. Power is at the coil.

I am going crazy with this

    Ideas?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

PS Finally the weather is breaking and I can't get out on the road.

My first guess is that timing data from the CPS isn't reaching the DME. That will result in no spark and no operation of the fuel pump. The fire could have damaged the the CPS wiring, or you could have the CPS and Cylinder ID connectors swapped. Did you replace the CPS along with the harness?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
