Hi guys,
After having the car for almost 60,000 miles (currently at 181,000) I finally have a weird noise coming from the rear end of the car.
A: When accelerating (accelerator pedal is down) there is no noise, when completely off the accelerator pedal (coasting) there is no noise, but in the 1-2 second transition of going from throttle to no throttle, there is a howling/grumbling that comes from the rear end (trunk area, etc). To make the noise go away, I can just accelerate again or wait a few seconds.
B:When I blip the throttle while driving there is knocking that also comes from the rear. Knocks when I hit the accelerator, and knocks when I let go.
What the heck could these noises be coming from?
The car has the original transmission and dif. with 181,000 miles. It is a 325i automatic (yes I would love it if it were manual but it is not, and I am not going to do a swap). Wheels are tight, nothing looks loose under the car.
Any suggestions/hints/experiences with this?
Thanks! :)
