    part ID needed

Can anyone tell me what this part is? I have it, I think I need it, but I'm not sure? All I have is a part # and I know it came off a euro 323. I believe it has something to do with the ignition??? It's bosch PN/ 0 227 100 111

I searched ETK and had no luck? Here's a picture of it. I believe it's a control unit transistorized ignition module but can't match up #'s? Can anyone help?

My guess is a voltage regulator for an alternator.

Edit, scratch that. It appears to be an ignition module, meaning it controls when the spark plugs fire. Where exactly did you get it and why do you think you need it/ don't need it?

I got it off of an 84' 323i I had parted out years ago. I was told thar I need this module to rum my engine due to using the carb set up instead of the fuel injection. I am also using the distributor from that same 323 that mounts on the side of the block opposed to the typical place on an M20 where it's mounted at to front of the head. Knowing it IS the correct module I just need to figure out how it needs to be tied in and to what? Also what it's function actually is. All I know is when I was building the engine it was told I'd need it and that their pricey and tough to get so I should hold on to it.

Basically it tells the coil when to fire based on the position of distributor. Here is a small picture show the connections:
