    Front end problem

So I got back to campus yesterday after the 2.5 hour drive up here, and the first manhole cover my wheel touches I hear a nice, loud "CLUNK!" So I drive slowly up to the parking lot where there's some level ground, and jack the car up... as best I can tell there's something either rubbing the wheel or brake rotor, because when I spin the wheel there's a grinding noise that at one point almost stops the wheel. When I spin the wheel backwards it's much worse.

As far as I can tell nothing's stuck in there, and the caliper isn't rubbing the wheel. Anyone got any ideas? The CABs look fine and the tie rod links aren't broken. This is on the right front, if that helps at all.

try taking the wheel off and putting it back on. maybe its torqued down on one side more then the other and its making the rotor crooked. THis has happend to me before

Will do, all the lug nuts seemed plenty tight, I had the wheels off not too long ago and they were all torqued to proper spec when reinstalled. Maybe it worked loose.

Problem solved. Scarily enough, I lost a caliper bracket bolt somewhere in the mountains.

your lucky you caught that. that happend to my friend in his ix and the caliper fell off on the highway when he was passing the front right wheel locked up, and it wrecked his rim, caliper, and rotor.

I'd say your friend was very lucky not to crash the car! Compared to a whole car, a rim, caliper and rotor are pretty cheap.
