Help! convertible windows wont roll up! (not breaker)

Just two days ago I rolled down my windows to replace my convertible top, and now I am having problems rolling them back up! There is no power to the switches or circuit breaker.
Its not the breaker, the fuse, or the wiring. i have ruled those out.
I did a bit of searching and found this post on e30tech. http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showpos...87&postcount=9
Unloader relay coils are grounded through starting motor EXCEPT when starting. When starting, battery voltage is applied to both sides of the unloader relay coils and relays are de-energized.
Since I am in the process of doing an m50 swap on my e30 the engine wiring harness is disconected, but the fusebox is still powered from the battery.
Is it possible since I have nothing attached to my starter that I blew this unloader relay when I rolled the windows down?

Well that didnt take me long, but im going to leave this here in case people search in the future.

I brought the harness back out and connected it to the fusebox and the starter ground wire to the starter. windows/ blower worked after that.

I think I found my problem. My windows and blower fan don't work while the engine is running or after it is shut off, but work when you first turn the key to the on position. PO just put a remanufactured starter in...

it shouldnt matter what starter you have, as long as its properly grounded and the fuse box is properly grounded to it

        i think!
