OMG. I dont think you would want to take on such a task if the car isnt prewired for it. There are a bumch of relays and sensors needed and then there is the whole resistance system on the head/taillights.
    Im now E30less.

unless you're stripping the car to be painted/lightened for the track, it's not worth it, it requires replacing the entire wiring harness and fabricating/buying many sensors to even connect all that to a 318. That's my only gripe about the 318is, you have to actually check all your fluids after swapping in an m20 :P

          Wait a second.

Are you telling me that 318's never came with a Check Control.

Many euro 318i/316i s has no Check Control module even not A/C and some has a sunroof ans electrical windows,
4 bangers are really basic here

but then they are like 200lbs lighter making them the optimal beginning platform.
              Im now E30less.

Yes, we are telling you that 318's dont have check control. They only have a seat belt warning light and on later cars an airbag warning light.

That pretty little thing on the dash also conveniently tells the owner to replace the o2 sensor at 30,000 miles (whether it is dead or not, and only once, EVER) and when the car overheats.
