Ok, so i get in my car today and the goddamn wheel won't unlock. It tries to unlock, because the key will turn a tiny bit, and if you take it out etc and jiggle the wheel you'll here it click. But it wont turn farther than that. Key is fine since it works in all the other locks and still double locks the drivers side door, etc. What the hell is going on?

Sounds almost exactly like what happened to me a few day ago. Except my key would turn to the first click only, and no further. It turned out that my ignition lock cylinder was f*d up.

happend on our 89 325is too~ there is a piece (snap ring?) behind the cylinder lock that breaks eventually and prevents the key from being able to turn the cylinder enough to remove it. We tried drilling and it just broke tips, banged it, poked it with all kinds of metal paper clips etc, and then gave up for a while. A week later on a really hot day it just worked all of a sudden, so we removed the cylinder and replaced it and now it works fine. I guess get a blow torch to it to maybe melt the broken piece?
