Group,
I had two electrical issues come up yesterday while at the track. Not sure if they have any interrelationship.
Car is 1990 325i.
First issue: Twice on a long right hand turn, I had a sudden, but very brief loss of power. I think it is electrical in nature as when the engine cutout, the dash blipped "off" - speedo, tach, everything. The cutout was less than a second in length each time. Never happened again anywhere else - I don't think it is a fuel delivery issue, but if someone knows better, I could be convinced. I had fuel starvation issues in the past when I had an old rusty fuel tank, but the tank and the pump have been replaced. And when I had that issue, it was more of a sputter - this was a very hard cut to the power, but only for a split second.
For what it is worth, my coil is bolted to the wheel well, and my main and fuel pump relays are ziptied in place.
Second Issue: power windows stopped working at some point during the day. THey had been up and down several times, but at the end of the day, would not go back up.
My rear windows have not worked for some time. But as it is a track only car, I've never really been bothered to worry about it.
I checked the breaker switch - unless it is bad, it seem to have no effect.
Fuse 17 is fine.
Heater blower works fine, so I don't think it is an unloader relay issue.
Interior is gutted, save for the dash. My son was riding passenger at my track event yesterday, and I am wondering if he might have gotten his foot into some of the wires under the dash/in the passenger side rocker/kick panel area. As I have no interior panels, suppose that might have done something. ????
I have a work around for the windows, but I'd like them to work properly.
But the power loss issue is a bigger concern to me.
Any ideas on what the issues might be or any ideas on where to start are appreciated.
