I just bought some of this stuff, STP Fuel System Cleaner (made with jet fuel:!: ) My cousin use to tell me it was too harsh for an older system. What are you guys' thoughts on this type of product?

I refuse to put any STP product in anything I own. I used to tear down a lot of engines and the worst thing you can do is run penzoil, the second worst is add STP to it.

WHy would you put jet fuel into a gasoline car? Jet fuel is a kerosene based fuel with a much higher flash point than gasoline. Real jet fuel can also contain Tetra-ethyl lead which is bad for your O2/cat among other things that don't sound to cheery. It hink it is just a bullshit marketing ploy.
Redline SI-1 Fuel Cleaner is about as good as it gets in my book. Chevron Techron is also good.Comment

I've used Sea Foam, Lubro Moly's Ventil Sauber, Chevron Techron, Redline's Fuel System Cleaner. Sea Foam and Ventil Sauber produced noticeable resutlts. I'll pop in a bottle every now and then when I start to notice my valves getting a little noisy. These two products quited them down and smoothed out my idle at stops as well. I think all these products claim to improve HP and fuel economy. I never noticed any difference in these areas, but definetly quited down the valves and smoothed out the idle.Comment
