    Frankenstein car idle problems

    So the story goes...

I bought an 86 325e with a motor swap. I wish i knew all the details, but heres what i can tell you. It was said to have an i motor put into it, or maybe just the top end. It still redlines at 4700, but puts out good power. It was an auto but had a manual trans put into it. Guy that owned it had to replace the engine harness in order for it to run. After all that, heres where my problem is.

It didnt have an icv in it and i wanted to add one for a smoother idle. I bought a new one online for an 89 325i, put it in and hooked it up. Car reved to 3k and settles at about 3500. I started testing wires and found out that the plug that goes into the icv was hooked up to the throttle body, and the throttle body plug wasnt connected to anything. I put the plugs in the right places, and the same thing happens. Started fooling around and eventually came to this, with the mass air flow unhooked it settled at about 2k rpm. Theres also no O2 sensor. When i picked it up it ran fine, idled at about 700, but it was popping while it idled, guessing it was the gas buildup.

One more thing, when i got it, the ports on the throttle body were sealed. Standing on the drivers side facing the engine, the top left and top right ports on the throttle body were sealed and the bottom right was going into the brake booster. Correct parts are now installed.

Im not sure where to take the next step. Any and all help will be appreciated.

Holy shit! First order I guess would be to continue what you're doing and hook up everything right. How did you have brakes with no vac to the booster?
Ma che cazzo state dicendo? :|

post pics of your motor- It sounds like you have an eta harness/ECU and are trying to run an i ICV.

sadly my camera died after taking one picture, so ill have to get one of the other side later.

edit: i do have an airbox and all, took it out after all the testing to clean the maf sensor

Good News! So i decided to replace the ecu and coolant temp sensor, now its down to 1800 with everything hooked up properly. I think i may have screwed something up when i flushed and replaced the coolant, finding out that i didnt do it properly. So thats on my list for this weekend. The car is also running much smoother
