Change rubber fuel lines without draining tank?

I need to replace the rubber fuel lines on both sides of the filter. Normally when I change the filter I clamp off each hose, change filter, etc.

Do I have to drain the tank for this or if I pop the hoses off do I only lose the gas that is renaming in the lines, or will it start draining the tank too? If it's just the gas in the lines, then I can deal with that.

Hopefully I can avoid draining the tank, but if I have to I will.

You can change the hoses on both sides of the filter w/o draining the tank. Some gas will drain, so use a catch pan.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

the gas is pumped out of the tank; it's not gravity feed. you'll only lose, at max, the fuel in the existing filter and in the line from the tank.

Yep, I know it's pumped out of the tank. I was more worried about the potential for it siphoning out of the tank.

Just to confirm anyone that looks at this in the future. I only lost what was in the lines. I also did the rubber return line with no problems.

Just did mine aswell. I always pull the fuel pump fuse and let the car run till it dies, usually takes the pressure out of the lines, then they pop right off. However I did not do that for some reason when I did mine and got blasted with fuel.
