    17 mpg for M40b16...WHY?

I finally set the trip meter and found that I've been getting 17 miles per gallon..
I drive very carefully and even if I usually drive mine in downtown 17 mpg doesn't make sense.

I've been told that my clutch is worn out (that was 6 months ago, and my clutch still doesn't slip) so that might be the possible reason, and as far as I know bad o2 censor can cause bad fuel mileage. Is there anything that might cause bad fuel mileage?

Have you checked your fuel injectors to see if they are leaking/stuck open?

How do I check if they're leaking/struck open? I see no leaks around the area (it was too dark to check it out closer, I'll check'em out tomorrow again), and if injectors are struck open, engine won't run properly, wouldn't it?

I've been getting below average mpg for a long time(more than 6 months probably, I always forgot to press the trip meter to calculate mpg), never notice any problems except occasional gasoline smell before engine warms up, and the engine runs fine without any issue.

First I would check against the odo that you're actually getting that mileage. Then the first thing I would check would be the usual plugs, air filter, O2 sensor, and fuel leaks somewhere.

FYI I'm not referring to OBC because I don't have one. I'm talking about the trip meter below the odometer. Well I think the odo and trip meter is almost accurate considering the distance that I actually travel every day.

And I today I checked closely if there's any fuel leaks but theres no leak whatsoever..
Yeah I'm definitely should do plugs, air filter, and o2 censor. Thanks!
