    IE Strut bar problem

I just installed the IE strut bar for my 86 325es, i have read that jacking up the car would make it fit(now that IE only has 1 size) and it did, but im getting a rubbing sound coming from the engine bay now. considering the only thing i have recently changed was adding this bar i figured that was the root. i thought that maybe it was my tires making the weird sound (in my head i thought "that strut bar is probably pushing too far on the towers and causing my tires to tilt akwardly")but that theory kind of died down when the sound would go away when idling, no matter how fast i was rolling. the bar does sit uncomfortably close to the engine, and seems to make the rubbing sound when in upper RPMs, and when i let it idle the sound goes away. so im guessing the engines vibrating more the higher i go in RPM's and rubbing the strut bar...
has anyone else experienced this issue? knows of a solution? help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the intake manifold is hitting the strut bar. How's the condition of your engine mounts? I've got a buddy who has the IE bar on his M20 car and it's very close to the intake manifold. I might recommend putting washers on the studs before installing the bar to space it up just that little bit.

I have a strut bar exactly like the IE one and it was slightly touching the intake causing vibrations, so I wedged a pry bar to pry between the intake and the strut bar with force, it created a gap that stopped the vibrations.

that scares me a bit haha. but how much room was needed for your issue to go away? (to let me know how many washers i will use haha)

I would say check your engine mounts.

+10 on the possibility of bad motor mounts.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Installed and sold about 40+ of these, on m42 yes they need to be modified but on m20s and 24vs with good/correct engine mounts no issues.

No problem fitting with an m30 either.
